This week, Donald Trump brought a budget proposal to Congress. It is bad, y’all! Here are just some of the over 80 programs that this budget will kill.
1. Independent Agencies
These are some of thecuts proposed for other groups and funding that don’t belong to a specific department:
National Endowment for the Arts
This agency supports many artistic endeavors that are important for our culture.
Institute of Museum and Library Services
This is an agency dedicated to learning. They help advocate for public access to knowledge.
US Trade And Development Agency
Their mission is:
“The U.S. Trade and Development Agency helps companies create U.S. jobs through the export of U.S. goods and services for priority development projects in emerging economies.”
Corporation for Public Broadcasting – This will eliminate many public cable channels such as PBS. The National Public Radio (NPR) and many local radio channels will also be eliminated.
2. Department Of AgricultureLoans and grants for Water and Wastewater programs.
The McGovern-Dole International Food for Education, which aims to provide safe food.
3. Department of Education
21st Century Community Learning Centers – This program helps fund after-school and summer programs.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant – This helps provide need-based student aid.
Striving Readers – This program provides literacy programs for students. It includes students with disabilities and those with limited English.
4. Environmental Protection Agency
Clean Power Plan – This sets standards for carbon pollution from power plants.
Climate change research will also be cut.
Energy Star – This certifies buildings and products that are energy-efficient.
The missions to land on Europa and missions to redirect asteroids will be cut.
NASA’ s Office of Education to fund the dissemination of their findings.
Also, NASA’s studies on our oceans would be cut.
6. Department of Transportation
Amtrak’s long-distance services and many flights to regional airports would be cut.
7. Department of Housing and Urban Development
Community Development block grants – these help low-income people with housing issues and partial funding for the Meals on Wheels program.
Self-Help Home Ownership Opportunity Program – this helps fund non-profits that build housing for people with low incomes.
Overall, the proposed cuts affect programs that are primarily geared toward social safety nets and programs that benefit people of lower income brackets. The programs NOT affected by the proposed cuts benefit people that are already well-off.
This despicable president is going to destroy the country.
